1 Kings 17-18
In Chapter 17 we read of Elijah's Private Ministry where the Lord commanded him to: "Go hide thyself." In Chapter 18 Elijah was commanded to: "Go Shew thyself." This was his Public Ministry. In Chapter 17 we see:A Brook Dried Up, A Barrel Ate Up, And A Boy Raised Up. The boy was "revived". A slight type of Israel and a possible type of the church. Oh how we need new life breathed back into us, in these last days of apostasy.
In I Kings 18 Elijah confronts:
#1. Obadiah (a picture of a Compromising Christian.) Obadiah served inside the court, while Elijah served outside the camp. Ahab viewed Obadiah as a trouble shooter (vs.5), while he viewed Elijah as a trouble maker. (vs.18). The Bible teaches: Separation not Infiltration.
#2. Ahab and the prophets of Baal.
#3. The people of God (Israel). Vs.21
Elijah shows us SEVEN MANDATES CONCERNING REVIVAL:
#1. A Disdain for Sin. Vs.18
#2. A Declaration of the Word of the Lord. Vs.18
#3. A Denouncing of False Religion. Vs.27
#4. A Drawing Near. Vs.30,36
#5. A Dedication of the Altar. Vs.32
#6. A Distinct Order. Vs.31-35
#7. A Definite Obedience. Vs.36
#8. (The number of new beginnings. ONE MANIFESTATION OF GOD. Vs. 38-39
Oh how we need the fire to fall. Oh how we need to fall on our faces. God help us to allow God to prove Himself unto this generation. "...If the Lord be God, follow him:"
